Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She's the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news site has a TV personality, author, and an philanthropist. Originally from Greece she was able to move to England at the age of sixteen and then was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to serve as president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. After graduation she made her mark as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice platform that gave critical opinions on the political scenario. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of prominent contributors to share their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent in California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. The project she headed was an Detroit fuel-efficient car project. She was named one of the Most Popular Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded 12th position on this list. In the same year Guardian named her on the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her president of the media group and also included several the other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos who was a Journalism and management expert. Although she had a close relationship with both her father and mother, it was their bond that shaped her. At a young age she demonstrated the leadership abilities for which she's still known. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the college debate society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. In 1972, she earned the degree of master's in Economics. After her graduation, she was a columnist-critic as well as a TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
