Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She's the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, television personality, philanthropist as well as the founder and editor of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Her success as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she graduated. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered critiques of the political situation. Her celebrity status helped her in getting several high-profile contributors to post their views about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna's celebrity status began in 2003, when she became an independent candidate for the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes listed her as one of one of the "most powerful women" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL, Inc. named her president of their media company in 2011 after they bought The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included additional AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli, who are both journalists and consultants in management. Although she was a close friend to her father it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her entire life. She was a leader throughout her childhood. In her 16th year, she moved to Britain for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. As a student she was a member of the Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college and eventually was its first foreign and female president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was awarded. Following her degree, she was a columnist-critic and TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
